What stage am I at?
On the Foreclosure Help form, the stages are: current but worried, behind on payments, notice received, sale date set, or unsure. Current but worried means you are still paying but are concerned about future payments. Behind on payments means you have missed one or more payments. Notice received means your lender has sent you a foreclosure notice. Sale date set means a sale date has already been scheduled. Unsure means you do not know yet, and that is a normal place to start.
Why does a sale date make things urgent?
Once a sale date is set, the time left to ask questions, talk with your lender, or consider selling may be short. In Georgia, sales are generally held on the first Tuesday of the month, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and the lender generally must give notice at least 30 days before the sale, with advertising weekly for 4 consecutive weeks. If a sale date is set, check your notices for that date, and ask for help promptly rather than waiting.
What information is needed on the Foreclosure Help form?
The form asks for your full name, phone, property address, and current stage. It also asks for city, county, and ZIP; the sale date if known; months or payments behind; property condition; your goal, such as keep the home, sell the home, or unsure; best contact time; preferred contact channel; and any notes. Email, amount owed, and monthly payment are marked optional and can be left blank. Fields marked as optional can be left blank. Please do not send a deed, power of attorney, or financial documents through this form.
What happens after I submit the form?
After you submit, you should see this message: Thanks for contacting us! We will be in touch with you shortly. The process described on the Foreclosure Help page is a same-day or next-business-day review with written options, and then you choose your path and date. There is no pressure to decide on the spot, and we cannot promise a particular outcome, price, or closing date. Every situation is different, and any options shared will depend on the details you provide.
What does the SMS consent box mean?
If you check the box that says, Yes, I agree to receive text messages about my inquiry, we may send you text messages about your inquiry only. If you do not check that box, we will not use text messages for that inquiry. Choosing a preferred contact channel, such as phone call, text message, or email, helps us know how you would prefer to be contacted.
How is my information used, and how long is it kept?
Your information will be used only to respond to your inquiry and will not be sold. Foreclosure Help Intake submissions are retained for 90 days from submission, except data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. For full details, see the Privacy Policy.
